Signs You’re Not Ready to Retire

I read an interesting article on MSN.com the other day – 10 Signs You’re Not Ready To Retire. In it, the author lists the things she thinks you need to handle before you’re retirement, or you’ll have regrets.  It’s an interesting list. Here’s the highlights:

• You don't have a budget
• You're expecting to live on interest and/or dividends.
• You haven't road-tested your dreams
• When to start Social Security benefits
• How are you paying for Medical expenses
• You haven’t coordinated with your spouse
• You’ll still have a mortgage / credit card debt

I’d add one more important one to the list – you don’t have a Roadmap.  How do you know where you’re going without a map? People spend more time planning for a vacation than planning for their financial freedom. Something like 80%+ of people are unhappy / uncertain about their financial future. That’s an amazing number.
